The energy output from active galactic nuclei is now recognized to play a major role in the evolution of galaxies (Heckman+Kauffmann06). We will study the AGN population at z < 0.4 in J-PAS to discriminate the mechanisms that trigger the nuclear activity (interactions vs secular processes) and understand the impact of AGNs in their hosting galaxies.
