PROFUSE meets SCMA6
Since 1991 the meeting "Statistical Challenges in Modern Astronomy" gathers worldwide experts in astroestatistics every 5 years. The sixth edition of this prestigious meeting, hold by the Carnegie Mellon University at Pittsburgh for the first time, was from 6th to 10th June 2016. State-of-the-art contributions regarding sparse representation, deep machine learning and automatic classifications, hierarchical Bayesian modelling, and Big Data analysis in the era of large galaxy surveys were enjoying by the attendants. PROFUSE were there with a contributed talk presenting the latest results about the luminosity function in ALHAMBRA with PDF analysis techniques and the statistical challenges that J-PAS will impose to the astrophysical community.
The oral presentations of SCMA6 are accessible at http://www.stat.cmu.edu/~cschafer/SCMA6/Schedule.html.
